At St. Mark’s, we believe in the power of vision to shape not only the minds but also the hearts of our children. Each academic year, we center our school community around a key strand of our overarching vision, weaving this theme into every aspect of learning and life at school. Through meaningful discussions, hands-on projects, and engagement with current events—whether local, national, or global—our students develop a deep understanding of the world around them and their place within it.
Embedding these strands is a vital part of life at St. Mark’s, as they help provide our children with the cultural capital they need to grow into informed, compassionate, and active global citizens. In 2023-24, we embraced the theme, “Together we will guide you towards a fulfilling future.” This focus encouraged our students to think critically about the health of the planet and their responsibility to it. We reimagined our learning spaces, renaming classes and biomes to reflect the importance of the natural world, and engaged our children in dynamic discussions and projects focused on climate change. The children explored the essential truth that a fulfilling future can only be achieved through the protection and preservation of a healthy environment. Their journey was rich with discovery, teamwork, and creativity as they explored how their actions can shape the future of the planet.

As we look ahead to the coming year, we are excited to embark on a new strand: “Together we will teach you to live within the value of God’s word.” This year, each class will be assigned a specific Christian value—such as trust, wisdom, or justice—and will have the opportunity to explore and demonstrate how these values reflect the teachings of Jesus and enrich our lives. The entire St. Mark’s community will come together to learn from one another, growing in faith and understanding.
