On Thursday, 11 of our Year 5 children were selected from Jet Class to take part in ROBLOX design project organised and ran through the Open University.

The event took place at Brickworks Community Centre on Crouch Hill where children were given the opportunity to put their design skills to the test.

Pupils were required  to put their architect helmets on and use the 3D design application to create their buildings in a  virtual world.

At the end of the day parents were invited to view their children’s work and listen to the process involved in each of their detailed designs.

Please enjoy the pictures of the event below:-

Children started the day by looking at different architectural designs of different types of buildings from around the world. Children were asked to study each building in detail and give adjectives to describe the designs of each building.

Children were then given the opportunity to experiment with the ROBLOX application and apply their design skills. Each pupil was each given the task of designing a church within the virtual world.

After deciding that their design work would be more successful working in groups and sharing ideas together, pupils took some time away from the computers.

Each group of pupils were given the task of designing a community building to add to the virtual environment. Children worked hard to brainstorm their ideas collaboratively.

Finally, children worked in their groups to design, create and share their Community Building projects.
