The night we had been waiting for had finally arrived! We were to perform Romeo and Juliet, at The Park Theatre. We had our lines rehearsed, our acting skills now impeccable and our costumes and props to the ready, we were actually ready to hit the light fantastic!

Here are our photos of the incredible performance…

Old Montague and Old Capulet are tired. All the fighting between the families wears them down. To cheer himself up Old  Capulet has a party!

Romeo and Juliet meet and fall in Love at first sight. Romeo and Juliet cannot bear to be parted! So against their parents wishes, they get married.

Benvolio warns Romeo that this will come to no good, but Romeo is declares that he loves a Capulet and is now a Capulet himself!

Mercutio, Romeo’s loyal friend however, will not let love rule his heart.

Juliet’s cousin, Tybalt will not forgive Romeo for dishonouring his family and wants to kill Romeo.

Mercutio and Tybalt fight. Tybalt kills Mercutio. Soon after Romeo avenges Mercutio’s death and kills Tybalt, his wife’s cousin.

Old Capulet does not know that Juliet are married Romeo. He  tries to arrange for Juliet to marry Paris, the Princes’s kinsman.

Romeo is banished from Verona by the Prince.

Juliet is distraught and seeks help from Friar Lawrence.

Juliet’s nurse finds Juliet has collapsed, after taking a special potion. The nurse thinks that she is dead.

Juliet’s mother and nurse cannot contain their grief.

Romeo returns to Verona thinking Juliet is dead. He finds Paris in the dark and scary vault, where Juliet’s body lies. Paris and Romeo fight and Romeo kills Paris.

Here Romeo says farewell to Juliet and takes some poison. He kisses Juliet and dies. Romeo is determined to join Juliet in everlasting rest, as he wasn’t able to be with her, in life.

Juliet wakes and finds that her true love has taken some poison and his body lies beside her. She takes his dagger and takes her own life.

The Capulets and the Montagues arrive at the scene and see that their children have been the sacrifices of their own hatred. The Prince is shocked and disappointed with the families and tells them that this was a result of their enmity.

The families realise what they have done and become friends.

And there you have it, Shakespeare would have been proud that you (Year 5) put on a performance, so true to the writing of Shakespeare.

Well done Jet Class a truly magnificent achievement!

But where would we have been without our wonderful Narrators?   Who played such an important role in pulling the whole story together. Incredible work Narrators, well done!
