As part of our whole school hall art project , Onyx Class have been producing Lino prints based on Mayan art prints from the continent of South America . Check out the Gallery in our class blog to see children’s work or come and experience our artwork first hand in school hall.

Firstly, we looked at Mayan art prints from South America that had been created by Lino printing. We concentrated on pattern and mark making styles.

We sketched some print designs into our Art Sketch Books. We then chose our final design and transfered it onto a piece of lino.

Next we used a carving tool to carve our designs out of the Lino. This was very tricky and required lots of concentration.

Finally we printed our designs onto our background in a repeated pattern to create our Mayan art prints.
