Dear parent/carer,

You may have heard news stories about the large outbreaks of measles and whooping cough (pertussis) in London. The best way to protect yourself and your family is to ensure that everyone is up to date with their vaccinations.

We have been asked to pass on the attached letter which explains the vaccinations your child should have before they start school. Please ensure that your child is up to date with all of their vaccinations, and in particular, that they have had 2 doses of the MMR vaccination (protecting against measles, mumps and rubella), before they start with us in September. This will keep your child safe, as well as the rest of the school community and your wider family.

Anyone can catch-up with missed vaccinations at any age (including adults!) by contacting their GP practice.

Many thanks for your help in minimising the risk of the spread of measles, which will in turn minimise disruption to schools.
