Graduates from the Bank of Tokyo visited Year 6 Onyx Class to take part in some Maths problem solving activities. We had great fun!
We were given a clock-face where the numbers had been mixed up. We had to identify all of the missing numbers from ten statements below describing the properties of each number.
In this maze there are numbers in each of the cells. You go through adding all the numbers that you pass. You may not go through any cell more than once. We had to find a way through in which the numbers added to exactly 100?
A magician took a suit of thirteen cards and held them in his hand face down.
He took the top card off the pile and put it at the bottom, saying ‘A’ as he did it. He took the next card and said ‘C’ as he put it at the bottom. He took the next card and turned it over, saying ‘E’ as he did it – and the card was an ACE!
We had to work together to find how this worked.
We had to choose four different digits from 1−9 and put one in each box.
We then had to add the two vertical and two horizontal numbers and find the total.
The challenge was to find a combination of numbers that totalled 100.
