Today in Science club , we examined our egg vinegar experiments we started the previous week. We noticed the hard egg shell had been dissolved by the vinegar and the food colouring we added had gone through the egg membrane and coloured the egg white.
We also carried out copper coin cleaning investigation using a selection of solvents ranging from lemon juice to ketchup to find out which sample cleaned the copper coin the best. This got us thinking why?
Children learnt a bit about why copper coins get so dirty over time. This is to do with the oxidation process on the copper metal.
