This week in Year 4, our pupils took a hands-on approach to learning about online safety and digital responsibility. Using their iPads, they played an engaging educational game called Ban Runner.

In Ban Runner, students navigate through various online scenarios where they encounter common digital dilemmas, such as receiving mean or hurtful messages. The game challenges players to choose the best solutions to these situations, reinforcing important skills for staying safe and respectful online.

Before playing, we had a class discussion about the key takeaways. We talked about:

• What to do if someone says something hurtful online (e.g., not responding, blocking the person, and reporting the behavior).

• Why it’s important to tell a trusted adult if something upsetting happens online.

• How to be kind and respectful digital citizens, even in tricky situations.
