This Spring term Jet have linked their maths with computing. Jet have spent time creating, coding and programming a maths quiz using the programme Scratch 2.0.
Firstly,
Jet spent time understanding variables through a game of football. They discussed how to add variables to make the game more interesting.
‘We could make people pass the ball 5 times to score a point’ Mykel
‘We could make the game interesting by giving teams points from how far they score’ Nana
Next,
Jet choose a maths topic and decided on the questions they would ask, e.g. addition, subtraction, fractions etc. The children also came up with some great ideas to make their quizzes interesting.
‘I want to make my questions harder every time you get one correct’ Rubie
Then,
Jet got coding and spent a few weeks creating and editing their quizzes to make them interactive by adding sound, dialogue and scores.
Have a look at what they have created.

Hi Miss Robb,
I like the maths Quizs
It was fun because got to make up our own rules
Add extensions for smarter children
I really enjoyed making a global warming quiz!
What did you enjoy about it Billy?
I like the pictures of people getting involved in playing football, even though some of them aren’t football fans we got to see how it fits with football.
It was good because we tried new things to make it better,by using more variables like music and scores
I liked this project because it inspires you to take your imagination into action
Add extensions for smarter children?
Next time I will add more variables to my maths quiz
What types of variables will you add?
I like. doing this because it was very fun and very educational to everyone and it helped us more.
I liked this project because it was fun and you can make up your own maths quiz
I like this project because it’s fun when you get to make up your own maths sums and crate your own characters into a game show quiz.
I liked it when we had to figure out how to get to music up and I liked it when we had to make animation and I liked it very much
I would in prove it by puting more questions.
I enjoyed the maths quiz because we did lots of programming and making animations and even we also got to write lots of maths questions.
I liked that we went outside to experiment.I also liked the frozen game because you had to try and figure out the answer by experimenting the answer with working on the levels
I Liked playing the frozen code game in computing lessons. When we did the lessons about making variables i added that only girls could score. When we went on scratch to make our maths quiz’s, i did the same thing as Rubie. (Making each question harder as the contestant got one correct. I would improve my maths quiz by adding music and more sounding. I really enjoyed making these quiz’ because when I had to make the quizs, i Was still learning harder sums as I taught the contestant.
I like that in the lesson we got to play football to discover variables in a football game.
I liked that when we were coming up with hard maths to challenge our selfs
What maths did you use Erica?
Next time I will put background music and more questions. I Enjoyed learning how to add variables to a scratch program
I like when we got in group and start to play football because I like football and it link to computers.
I like it because it was good learning outside because computers is usually inside.
I liked making the quiz because you get to add a score and it’s fun when you get to challenge people with your knowldeg and we get to do algorithms.
I liked the frozen game because i had to work out the Questionby experimenting
I enjoyed it because I liked playing football in it.
I liked it because it was a challenge and we got to play other people’s quiz and say what was good or bad about it.
I like this project because you can make your own maths show.
I liked the project because we got to make animations and it inspires people to enjoy maths and have fun with animations at the same time. I also hope people be enjoyed with the questions with the column addition.
I liked doing the frozen game because you can make the character move by working out how and experimenting to find the answer .It was
Really fun .
It was really fun learning different stuff to make it better!
I liked doing that to it was really fun.
I really like making a global warming quiz because it is really fun
I also enjoyed this because it was fun to challenge your self with hard maths quizs and hard division
I also enjoyed this because it was fun to challenge your self with hard maths quizs and hard division and other stuff
I really enjoyed this task because it was really fun and it was fun making our own characters.
i like the pictures year5
It sounds REALLY cool.
I want to put in lots of sprites to ask more questions.
can I make minecraft in scratch (if its possible)
Are we going to do a viking invasion in scratch
Yes, it is linked to our topic this term.
The coding was very good because it was fun.
I liked the frozen game because you had to try and figure about the answer by experimenting the answer on your level
I always enjoyed this because it is fun to challenge your self
This maths quiz was really fun and I think we should do this again
I liked it because some of the questions were challenging
