Parents attended a workshop on how to help their children with spelling on 20 October 2016. Mrs Farquharson led an interesting discussion asking parents if they can remember how they learnt to spell. Many parents remembered certain rhymes that helped with specific words. Mrs Farquharson explained that there are lots of different strategies that can help children with spelling and both visual and auditory methods are used in school. At the end of the workshop, parents took away some ideas for games and tips and had a better understanding of how to help their children with spelling at home.
