African Art Prints
Year 6
As part of our Autumn term topic about Africa, Onyx Class have been producing Lino prints based on African art prints. Check out the Gallery in our class blog to see children’s work or come and experience our artwork first hand in the Key Stage 2 corridor display.
Onyx Class corridor display, African Art Prints.
Firstly, we looked at African art prints that had been created by Lino printing. We concentrated on pattern and mark making styles.
We sketched some print designs into our Art Sketch Books. We then chose our final design and transfered it onto a piece of lino.
We then drew over our designs with a thick black pen to make them stand out.
Next we used a carving tool to carve our designs out of the Lino. This was very tricky and required lots of concentration.
We then chose a background colour and used a roller to add a chosen colour for our prints.
Finally we printed our designs onto our background in a repeated pattern to create our African art prints.
